Macy's Goes Chic?

Event: On November 24th, Karl Lagerfeld has been said to be adding chic to Macy's womans collection. This collection will be both stylish (obviously) and AFFORDABLE! Just like Target, retailers are beginning to launch designer clothes at a cheaper price than typically found. Our very own Chanel glamor creator's Macy's collection will be displayed for us to get our hands on September 2011.

Response: I think that this is a very humble move of Lagerfeld. We should be thankful that such a high-fashion designer is willing to give us a collection of clothes that is affordable. Due to the rough economy, those who love high fashion aren't able to afford the splendor of his work, and now we can! I think that as long as the economy is low, other designers should follow in his footsteps. I'm not saying that their designs aren't worth what they have been asking, but I do believe everyone should have a chance at feeling beautiful from time to time, and this is a great opportunity.

Savage Beauty

In Memory of McQueen
Event Summary: The Metropolitan Museum of Art is honoring Alexander McQueen by showing his work from start to his very last line. This exhibition will be displayed at the Met in New York from May Fourth to July 31st. This exhibition will be showing around 100 of McQueen's garments in order to celebrate his beautiful creations. This exhibition will also display some of the creations McQueen designed for Givenchy from 1996-2001. The focus of his work will be on the dark and romantic side, since these are where most of his most memorable works were centered from. Thank you Andrew Bolton for being the man responsible for this memorable event.
Response: I think that Mcqueen deserved nothing less than an exhibit of his work. He has been an inspiration for so many, and created so much more than most any fashion designers could dream of. He will be remembered for his extreme fashion shows that ended up being more like a play, his beyond amazing designs which are more known as art, and his desire for climbing higher when he has already reached the top. The 100 plus garments are hardly enough to display his potential and ideas, because everything he designed was as flawless as the next. His work is truly like none other, and his ideas were extraordinary, I think this is a better ending to his death than the one he left us with, we are now aloud to let him go in a better memory.

Santa Baby :)

Even though Halloween season has just come to an end, Christmas decorating has already dashed in. Stores are decorating, Christmas lights going up, I guess the season of cheer is already here! Since I am a tad obsessed with Christmas, I'm already getting started, and of course, being a fashion major, that starts with clothes. To begin with, I usually start at the toes... :):)

Go With The FLOW

Cropped Top
In fashion, we go with the flow, but now we are seriously.. going with the FLOW. Since the 70's these cropped tops have come into high fashion, going into the 80's, and blasting off huge in the 90's. These big and baggy cropped shirts say sexy but tomboy at the same time, these contrasting attitudes are what keeps these shirts in the running for the name "classic". Just like the 90's these cropped shirts and flowing/draped belly button embracers are coming back to the top, and on top... is where they should be!

LITTLE me in LITTLE cropped top.

Not Just Little Me But Also Celebrities :)

Not Just Celebrities from also the MANLY??

Not just the manly but also those who enjoy some DIrrrrTY DANCING??? (only the best movie ever)

& we all know those who like to dirty dance like to PArrrTY.

Obviously the list goes on, and at the end of it we find WE ALL LOVE cropped tops!

Hasan Hejazi SS 2011 Collection :)

Hasan Hejazi is an upcoming British designer, and his upcoming fashion line makes him appear as if he has been an expert for some time now. His line was inspired by the supermodels from the 90's, and I'm sure the supermodels from the now will bring on his collection just as well. His spring/summer line of 2011 is seductive, fun, and edgy. The collection is very 90's but with a modern and very sexy twist, it was shot by the dashing photographer Rankin. Perfection would be the perfect word to wrap it up. Hasan Hejazi has truly won his place in the fashion world and will be someone to watch out for in the upcoming seasons.

Tim Walker & "Weird Beauty"

Tim Walker Style-... His fashion photography proves to be beyond brilliant, and is my personal favorite. I mean who comes up with such unique ideas and can capture them so perfectly. Every picture he takes has a story, every set is full of detail and creativity, and every shot is full of thought and uniqueness. His photography is in Vogue, Bazaar, and W and Harper's, any photographer would dream for their work to land in any of these. Tim Walker, my amazing London photographer, if I could give you an award for being OUTSTANDING I would... For now this blog will have to suffice.

Some of his brilliance---

Tim Walkers work was also displayed in Weird Beauty. Weird beauty was an exhibition that took place in 2009. This represented the top "innovative fashion photography" from that year. I found these pictures absolutely AMAZING, and completely inspiring. Props to Carol Squiers and Vince Aletti for organizing this event. Here are my top six pictures from the handfuls of beautiful pictures :)
